What is a prosperous sea-building business?
In order to improve the water environment at Yokohama Port, Yokohama City has been promoting sewerage improvement projects, dredging of sludge on the seabed, and environmental improvement projects such as sand covering. There were issues such as, and further improvement of the water quality environment was required.
In August 2009, the Yokohama International Triathlon Tournament was decided to be held in the Yamashita Koen-mae area to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the port. As a result, the Yokohama City and the Yokohama City Sports Association joined together to conduct water purification experiments in the Yamashita Koen-mae area, which will serve as a swimming venue for the event.
Since 2011, we have selected three locations (Suehiro District in Tsurumi Ward, Yamashita Koen-mae in Naka Ward and Nojima Coast in Kanazawa Ward), taking into account the availability and accessibility of the shoreline in Yokohama Port, taking into account the opinions of experts.

At present, we are aiming to improve water quality by utilizing the water purification capacity of marine organisms and to enhance the appeal of waterfront in cooperation with citizens.

About initiatives before Naka Ward Yamashita Park
We continue to conduct monitoring surveys on the biological adhesion infrastructure established in joint research with companies conducted from 2013 to 29, and evaluate them using adaptive management methods.
