Hamako Reading Plan "Let's Expand the Rich World Learned from Books"-To Foster the Power of Children to Live

In formulating the Yokohama City Children's Reading Activity Promotion Plan

Encountering a book can change the person's life.

Reading not only gives new knowledge and information, but also stimulates the imagination of unknown worlds and things and evokes fresh excitement.

In addition, reading fosters thinking and expression through words, and cultivates rich sensibility, creativity, and the basics of communication skills.

Reading is one of the important means that human beings develop the power to live more lively and like human beings.

With the children's "reading away" and "printing away", the Board of Education hopes that creating more opportunities to meet books will be a source of children's rich hearts and the ability to live. Has devised the "Yokohama City Children's Reading Activity Promotion Plan".

This plan shows the creation of an environment where children in Yokohama can seize every opportunity and place and acquire the habit of getting acquainted with reading independently, as well as the contents of the necessary support for that purpose, It clarifies concrete measures for effective implementation.

In particular, we focus on "revitalization of school libraries" and "cooperation with related organizations such as the City Library," and describe them in line with the stage of development from childhood.

This plan is meaningful for all citizens who wish for healthy growth of children in schools, homes, and communities, as well as those who are involved in children's reading activities on a daily basis and those who are called reading volunteers. I hope it will be.
