Library Volunteers At Asahi Library, volunteers are active in various fields such as ikebana, search machine training, book shelf arrangement, book repair, storytelling, green, history walk, picture-story show, etc.

Introduction of activities of each volunteer

Ikebana Ikebana works by members of the Asahi Tea Flower Road Association are exhibited in the hall. → Ikebana Photo Studio
Picture-story show The picture-story show volunteer Tosho-kun will perform a nostalgic "street picture-story show"-style picture-story show centered on handmade picture-story shows based on folk tales of Asahi Ward.
Green Green volunteers care for the greenery around the rooftop garden "Asahi-kun's Garden" and the library. → Asahi-kun's garden
Search machine training PC volunteers "PC Dream" hold "Book Search Machine Usage Consultation" to support the basics of PC operation and how to use book search machines. → Consultation on how to use book search machines
Bookshelf arrangement Bookshelf arrangement volunteers organize books on bookshelves that are disturbed in order to make books easier to read and find. In addition, a handmade shelf stopper will be installed to maintain the condition of the bookshelf that is difficult for books to be disturbed.
Book repair Book repair volunteers are repairing broken or dirty books. Various repair methods are devised according to the damage status of the book. → Book Repair Lecture Text (PDF: 2,937KB)
City walk guide The members of the "Asahi Guide Volunteer Association" serve as guides, and hold a "History Walk" to walk around historic sites and attractions in the city.

Story-telling (Children's Story-telling Party)

This is a meeting for people aged 3 and over, and we read picture books and picture-story shows. Librarians give advice on how to select and play picture books, and improve the skills of narrators. → Children's Storytelling Party

Story-telling (a story-telling party for parents and children)

This is a meeting for children aged 0 to 3 years old and their parents, where they play children's songs, play with hands, and read picture books. In addition to the Asahi Library, we also have talks at Shirane Community Care Plaza. → A talk party for parents and children to enjoy

Asahi-kun's garden

Asahi Library greening the roof in March 2012 with the aim of creating an eco-friendly library. The small garden on the roof was named "Asahi-kun's Garden" after the mascot character of Asahi Ward. This garden is managed by Asahi Library Green Volunteers. You can see the garden from the window of the reference book corner on the second floor of the library.

A rest space has been newly established near the entrance of the Asahi Library.
Everyone is relaxing under the parasol.
Please use it.

Ikebana Photo Studio

In front of the Asahi Library counter, there are works by teachers of the flower arrangement teacher, a member of the Asahi Chahanado Association, who is an ikebana volunteer. . Please enjoy the beautiful seasonal ikebana.
