The Yokohama's Memory Vol.5 is available.
Here are some of the work of Tomi Goro Ozaki, which was created by the need for the times.

Due to the nature of the port opening of the port, Yokohama in the late Tokugawa and early Meiji eras was also a place to receive overseas information and a place to send Japanese information, and the different cultures seen and heard in Yokohama were transmitted to Japan through Yokohama Ukiyo-e and guides. Was passed on to Against this background, Tomi Goro Ozaki was the person who performed distinctive publishing and sales activities in Noge, Yokohama. He created a pictorial map calling himself "Goyosha Manju Elderly", and as a Shoshi Kinseido, published English guidebooks and textbooks called traffic, as well as sold picture books.

The pictorial map of Tomi Goro Ozaki, which recorded Yokohama at that time, expresses the city as a cut-out map, while also pictorial drawing around Noge and Honmoku. In the masterpiece "Shinkanyo Yokohama MAP OF YOKAMA", it is written as "Mamosei Ginkajin" and "Kobayashi Ginji" as the sales office. All of them are Ginka Kishida, a pioneer of Meiji culture.

As a single print, in addition to the pictorial map, we publish Soroku, Yokohama Ukiyo-e, numbering, and a book. These materials left today speak eloquently about the culture of Yokohama in the early Meiji era, including the appearance of Yokohama and the activities of Yokohama merchants.

You can see the notation of the alphabet in the picture map, but Ozaki also publishes language books that are indispensable for accepting foreign cultures. Through guidebooks such as spelling letters, word books, and short sentences created by Ozaki, the people of Yokohama at that time would have communicated with foreigners.
