School Counselor's Work

School counselors who meet with faculty and staff

School counselors provide consultation and advice (psychological support) to elementary school student students and parents.
In addition, by providing advice to faculty and staff, on-campus training on issues according to the actual situation of each school, participation as a psychological professional in case meetings, etc., we can prevent various issues such as bullying and violence, early detection and early response, and appropriate support for truancy elementary school student students.

Characteristics of School Counselor at Yokohama City School

  • All schools have full-time elementary school student teachers (elementary schools) and full-time student guidance teachers (junior high schools) to share information within the school smoothly.
  • We perform "elementary and middle school counsel placement" in which the same counselor is assigned to elementary schools in the same school district as junior high school. We continue to support elementary school student students from elementary school to junior high school graduation.
  • In each of the 18 wards, there are training opportunities for school counselors in the ward to gather three times a year. In addition, there are liaison meetings where all school counselors gather and conduct training about five times a year.
  • We have a substantial support system for school counselors, such as being able to receive supervisors under the supervision of counselors.
