Plans to protect food safety

Based on the provisions of Article 24 of the Food Sanitation Law, Yokohama City formulates a "Yokohama City Food Sanitation Monitoring and Guidance Plan" reflecting opinions from citizens every year based on the provisions of Article 24 of the Food Sanitation Law. Based on this monitoring plan, we provide information on food, conduct on-site inspections of related business facilities such as food, and inspect foods.

Priority businesses in the FY2024 Plan

1.Measures against food poisoning caused by meat
 Restaurants that handle meat due to the frequent occurrence of Campylobacter food poisoning caused by raw or undercooked chicken dishes, and raw meat such as cattle may be contaminated with enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli. We will focus on monitoring and guidance to.
 In addition, we provide information to citizens so that they can eat meat after heating it sufficiently.

2.Support for establishment of hygiene management in accordance with HACCP
 Entry to facilities, conduct group-type workshops and e-learning so that food sales facilities such as restaurants can continue to carry out "hygiene management in accordance with HACCP" required by the Food Sanitation Law. Provide technical support through At the same time, we will support the introduction of facilities that have not been introduced.

3.Food hygiene measures for social welfare facilities
 Elderly facilities, daycare centers, elementary schools, etc., tend to be larger and more serious when food poisoning occurs. Therefore, as a preventive measure against food poisoning such as norovirus, we will provide advice and guidance on the health management of workers, thorough hand washing, and proper handling of food.
 In addition, we will provide advice and guidance on measures to prevent welsh bacteria food poisoning, whose number of outbreaks is increasing.
 Seminars for businesses will be conducted mainly on e-learning so that more employees can take the course.

4.Prevention of harm caused by fish and shellfish
 In response to the frequent occurrence of food poisoning caused by Anisakis every year, we instruct restaurants and retailers handling seafood on thorough removal of parasites such as Anisakis, and kill insects. We recommend freezing treatment that has the effect of killing. At the same time, we will collect knowledge about Anisakis through surveys of parasitic conditions, etc., and use them to raise awareness of food poisoning prevention.
 In addition, we will educate about appropriate handling guidance for stores that handle blowfish and prevention of mixing blowfish into small fish such as shirasu.
