Mosquito collection Report on West Nile virus test results
West Nile fever is prevalent in the United States, and from 2002 to 2005, 4,156 (284), 9,862 (264), 2,539 (100), and 3,000 (119) . In Japan, a 30-year-old man who returned from the United States in September 2005 was diagnosed with West Nile fever. The patient is believed to have been infected before returning to Japan. This virus is transmitted between [birds ⇔ mosquito ⇒ humans], but humans do not become a source of infection.
Yokohama City also has facilities related to foreign countries, such as ports and US military facilities, and has been conducting surveillance projects for mosquitoes and birds (crows) in the city since 2003. A trap (trap) to trap mosquitoes will be set up in parks in the city, and the presence of West Nile virus (WNV) genes will be checked by PCR at Yokohama City Inst.

Report of test results of West Nile virus in crows
We will inform you of the test results of the West Nile virus test (PCR method) for crows etc. who died in Yokohama City Inst. of Health in this column.
* Until July 5, 2006, crows were inspected, two Naka Ward (June 14), one Seya Ward (June 30), and one Kanazawa Ward (July 5), and the WNV genes were all negative.
* In 2005, three pigeons (June 8: exceptionally supported) and one crow (June 17) were brought in, and one crow (June 17) who died after being protected by Nogeyama Zoo (June 17) Was brought in. All West Nile virus test (PCR method) were negative.
* West Nile virus test (PCR method) of one crow carcasses brought into Yokohama City Inst. of Health on June 28, 2004, it is negative.
