New name of port hospital

In Yokohama City, we are conducting a redevelopment project for Yokohama City Port Hospital and are scheduled to open in April 2005. Taking advantage of this redevelopment, the name of the port hospital, which has been used since the opening of the hospital in 1962, was changed, and the Port Hospital Name Selection Committee examined it.

As a result of the review by the Committee, the new name was changed.

Yokohama City Minato Red Cross Hospital

Has been selected.

The selected names will be officially decided after deliberation in City Counsil in September.

In the first committee meeting held on June 21, 2004, we chose four name candidates and decided to raise opinions of citizens.

Candidates for the name were "Yokohama City Red Cross Minato Hospital", "Yokohama City Japanese Red Cross Society Minato Hospital", "Yokohama City Minato Red Cross Hospital" and "Yokohama City Minato Hospital operated by the Japanese Red Cross Society".

We examined with reference to opinion sent from citizen's all of you and selected name.

We announced by publication to city homepage, offer paper distribution at ward office and municipal hospital window and raised by mail, FAX, e-mail from June 22 to July 13.

Based on the results of the committee, amendments such as the "Ordinance on Establishment of Yokohama City Hospital Business" will be submitted to City Counsil in September, and the name will be determined after deliberation.

The new name will be the name of the new hospital after redevelopment, scheduled to open in April 2005.
