Overview
The Mental Health and Welfare Council was established based on Article 9 of the Law Concerning Mental Health and Welfare for the Mentally Handicapped, with the aim of investigating and discussing matters related to mental health and welfare for the mentally handicapped.
The committee members are those who have academic experience in mental health or the welfare of mentally ill persons, those engaged in medical care for mentally ill persons, and the promotion of rehabilitation of mentally ill persons or their independence and participation in socio-economic activities. The mayor appoints from those engaged in business to plan.
There is a need to promote addiction measures based on the Basic Law on Measures against Alcohol Health Disorders, the Basic Law on Measures against Gambling and Other Addiction Measures, and the “Comprehensive Support Project for Dependency Measures” set by the government. Based on these circumstances, the main measures of the medium-term four-year plan will be the establishment of an addiction consultation base to strengthen consultation in familiar places, and promote addiction countermeasures.
At the 1st Yokohama City Mental Health and Welfare Council in 2018, we received the approval of the establishment of a study meeting on measures against addiction in order to proceed with the examination of specific promotion measures of this addiction consultation base, A subcommittee meeting was held in 2018.
