Year of Persons with Disabilities Memorial Fund

It was founded to commemorate the International Year of Disabled Persons in 1981 (Showa 56).
As of March 31, 2007, there has been a fund of approximately 1.2 billion yen due to donations from individuals, groups, companies, etc., and subsidies from Yokohama City, and many goodwill has been received.
Since 2003, the Yokohama City National Council of Social Welfare's "Yokohama Fureai Grant" has been used to support activities such as research, research, training, sports, recreation, exchange circles, etc. to promote social participation of persons with disabilities.

Every year from December 3 to December 9 is "Disability Week".

One week from December 3, "International Day for Persons with Disabilities" to December 9, when the United Nations adopted the Declaration of Rights of Persons with Disabilities, following the revision of the Basic Law for Persons with Disabilities in 2004 (2004). Has been designated as "Disability Week".
In Yokohama City, with the aim of realizing a society where people with disabilities can live a safe life in the community, we are working on dissemination and enlightenment activities through training and various public relations so that correct understanding and awareness of disabilities and diseases can spread.
