Yokohama's "Symbol" Sound Logo

We created a sound logo that expresses the "brand image of the city of Yokohama" with sound.
By expressing the charm and characteristics of Yokohama through sound, we aim to make those who listeners think of Yokohama and feel familiarity and attachment to Yokohama. We will use it in a variety of situations to promote consistent urban brands.

About Sound Logo

We expressed the charm and characteristics of Yokohama drawn in the logo mark statement of "OPEN YOKOHAMA" produced with citizens in 2009.
In the production, we conducted a questionnaire to Yokohama e-questionnaire members (residents, working, or attending school in the city), Yokohama municipal high school students, and special schools for the blind, what kind of sound feels the characteristics and charm of Yokohama. I referred to my opinion.

◇Characteristics of sound
 ・It consists of seven sounds quoted from the melody of "Yokohama City Song", which is popular among Yokohama citizens.
 ・The sound of the wind chimes and wind bells represent the "free and open wind blowing in Yokohama" written in the statement.
 ・Three types of sounds are produced to match the scene and situations used.

(1) Sound logo <approximately 3 seconds>
   It is the basis of the sound logo, and expresses the charm and characteristics of the city in a sound of about 3 seconds.

(2) Sound logo short <approximately 1.5 seconds>
   It is a condensed sound logo of about 3 seconds into about 1.5 seconds.

   Based on the 7 sound logo, it is designed so that it can be looped and played repeatedly.

Producer

Mr. Takashi Kokubo

Mr. Takashi Kokubo.
Born in 1956. He is one of Japan's leading environmental music composer who has been highly evaluated worldwide, including being nominated for the 2020 American Grammy Award (Best History Cal Al Album Category). Among the works, the alarm sound of the Earthquake Early Warning of "We, We,we" is highly regarded as a sound calculated to save the lives of the people.

About the use of sound logo

Purpose of Use

The sound logo expresses the charm and characteristics of Yokohama with sound.
By transmitting the image of Yokohama to the outside of the city through sound, the aim is to recall Yokohama's urban brand and foster familiarity and attachment to Yokohama.

Those who can use

The sound logo can be used by anyone except in any of the following items.
 (1) When it hurts the dignity of Yokohama City or when there is a risk of that.
 (2) When it is used exclusively, such as using your own trademark or design, or when there is a risk of such.
 (3) When there is a risk of violation of laws and regulations or public order and morals.
 (4) When giving misunderstandings that Yokohama City supports or recognizes a specific individual, business, group, political party, religious group, or when there is a risk of such.
 (5) When The Mayor of Yokohama (hereinafter referred to as "the mayor") recognizes that the use is inappropriate in view of the purpose of use, in addition to what is specified in the preceding items.

Use procedures

1. Application
 Please submit the “Sound Logo Use Approval Application Form” (Form No. 1) and necessary documents at least 10 business days prior to the scheduled date of use, and receive approval before use.

2. Review and Approval
 Based on the application, we will examine the availability of use, and if the use is approved, send a usage approval letter to the applicant.

3. Reports  ※Only when used for commercial purposes
 If you want to use the sound logo for profit, please prepare and submit a “Sound Logo Use Products Sales Status Report” (Form No. 3) every year.
