Last update date November 2, 2018
On October 18, 1993, "Botan" was selected as flower of ward and "Yamazakura" was selected as flower of ward by postcard vote of Kanazawa inhabitant of a ward.
Botan-chan was born from this Kanazawa Ward flower "Botan".
Now, the place name "Deiki", where the Kanazawa Ward Office and police department are located, is named after "Mukogame Nitta", which is made up of the sea. In addition, the mud turtle was named after the name of "Nagashima mud turtle" (Iki Nagashima) who made this Nitta. Mr. Nagashima Mukame had a house on Nojima and planted a lot of botan in the garden, and was called "mud turtle" and delighted the eyes of the town people. From that time on, botan was a familiar flower for the town.
