About private use of rivers and waterways

When setting up properties such as structures in facilities and sites of rivers, waterways (general sewers) and public sewerage sites, you must obtain permission from Public Works Office.

• Passages and bridges
• Telephone poles, electric wires
• Water supply, gas pipes
• Construction facilities and construction materials storage

※The amount of private use fee is determined by the Yokohama City Sewerage Ordinance, and is determined by the type, area, extension, etc. of the property to be occupied. If the applicant is Neighborhood Associations / Neighborhood Association or a public institution, the private use fee will be reduced. To apply for private use permission, please fill in required items in sewer private use permission application (word: 54KB), attach required documents, and submit two copies to Public Works Office. In the case of reduction of taxes, please submit two copies of reduction of taxes application (word: 32KB) in addition.

• A permit will be issued. If a private use fee is incurred, a delivery notice will also be issued, so please pay the private use fee at a financial institution such as a bank.
• The occupation period is up to 5 years, and renewal procedures are required if you want to continue private use.

(Public Works Office will notify you before the expiration of the private use period.)

• When changing the quantity or location of private property.Change Application Form (word: 54KB)It is necessary to submit it.
• When the name of the occupant is changedApplication for Approval of Transfer of Rights (word: 34KB)・Status succession notification (word: 34KB)It is necessary to submit it.
• Documents to be submitted vary depending on the reason for change, such as inheritance or buying and selling, so please consult us in advance.

When we abolish private use article, presentation of abolition notice (word: 33KB) is necessary.
