Multicultural coexistence

Through the operation of 11 international exchange lounges in the city, we are promoting the development of towns where Japanese and foreigners can easily live together and work together.

In order to realize the "Yokohama City International Strategy" formulated in February 2016, Yokohama City has embodied "Creative Society through Multicultural Symbiosis" which is one of the key initiatives of the strategy. In March 2017, we newly formulated the "Yokohama City Multicultural Community Development Guidelines" in March 2017.

The "Yokohama International Community Development Promotion Committee" was established in 2007, consisting of representatives of citizens, private businesses, and public interest groups.

In order to realize a creative society through multicultural coexistence toward the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, etc., "promotion of hospitality for visiting foreign visitors", "promotion of cross-cultural understanding", and "promotion of foreign residents" We started support for activities of civic groups and NPOs in 2017.
