About Yokohama-shi wooden house earthquake-resistant repair assistance system

The Yokohama City Wooden House Seismic Retrofit Improvement Promotion Project is a system in which the city subsidizes a part of the cost of seismic retrofitting work for wooden private houses.

Documents pertaining to the application will be accepted at the window of the city. Please bring your own or submit it by mail.
※Until 2023, we asked you to submit to "Association of Yokohama Architects Office", but please submit directly to city in 2024.

■Target (for details, please refer to the application guide.)
<Applicable housing>

• Wooden private houses with a conventional frame construction method of 2 stories or less, which was started with construction confirmation before the end of May 1981 (self-owned and resident by himself)
• Houses whose scores (superstructure rating, etc.) was determined to be less than 1.0 as a result of the seismic diagnosis

※Houses with a superstructure rating of 1.0 or more in the seismic diagnosis (diagnosis after September 1, 2007) by the general diagnostic method conducted by Yokohama City are not eligible.
※If the owner is not resident and the owner's spouse or a first-degree relative resides, please contact us.
※In the case of a house with multiple dwelling units (including those where a part of the building is in contact with the neighboring building).
※In the case of mixed structures (buildings that include structures other than wooden structures) or special shapes, be sure to consult before applying for assistance.

<Eligible works>

• Seismic retrofitting work with a score of 1.0 or more based on seismic diagnosis due to reinforcement of foundations, reinforcement of braces (bearing wall), replacement of roofs for weight reduction, etc.
• Rebuilding work is not eligible.

• For seismic retrofitting work costs, we will provide assistance with the subsidy limit shown in the table below according to the tax classification of the household.
  

※All households have not been subject to residence tax for the past two years

When we are going to receive grant of subsidy, procedure such as grant application of subsidy are necessary. For more information, please refer to the "Application Guide".

• Yokohama City has implemented a system to register reliable design and construction companies in Yokohama City for the purpose of preventing troubles caused by malicious businesses and starting seismic retrofitting work with peace of mind.
• When using this system to perform seismic retrofitting work, only registered businesses can design and construct. Temporary registration is required if an unregistered company designs and constructs.
• It is recommended that you consult with multiple operators and select a company that suits your needs because the availability and characteristics of design and construction are different for each company.
• Construction companies are limited to city contractors (companies with headquarters in the city).

Design and Construction Company Registration System Towards Citizens

After using the free seismic diagnosis of Yokohama City or the seismic retrofitting assistance system of Yokohama City, a document certifying that the score (superstructure rating, etc.) is judged to be 1.0 or more after the use of the free seismic diagnosis of Yokohama City or the seismic retrofit assistance system of Yokohama City. If you perform seismic retrofitting, you can receive special tax measures. When we performed earthquake-resistant repair work using supporting system in Yokohama-shi, we can issue "house earthquake-resistant repair certificate" necessary for special measures.
