Survey results of dioxins in Aoba Ward

Last update date April 10, 2024

1 Purpose of the Survey

In the environmental survey of dioxins in the atmosphere of Ozenji Temple, Aso-ku, Kawasaki City conducted in 2001, the results exceeded environmental standards. In response to this, Yokohama City also conducted a survey at two locations in the Miyoshigaoka west district of Aoba-ku, which is close to 2002, and satisfied with the environmental standards.
Since then, Yokohama has conducted dioxin environmental surveys at five locations in Aoba Ward every year to understand the actual conditions of the atmosphere in Aoba Ward, which is adjacent to Ozenji Temple, Aso Ward, Kawasaki City.
According to the survey conducted up to fiscal 2004, five locations in Aoba Ward met environmental standards.
In fiscal 2005, the program was conducted in August 2005 and January 2006 at the same location as the previous year. I would like to inform you of the results.

2 Survey points

This was done at the five locations shown in Table 1.

3 Survey Method

The survey was conducted by sampling for one week from August 18 to 25, 2005 and from January 26 to February 2, 2006.

4 Survey Results

(1) The average annual value of each point in FY2005 is within the range of 0.044 to 0.069 pg-TEQ / m3, and all survey points conform to environmental standards (0.6 pg-TEQ / m3 or less).

(2) Table 1 shows the survey results at each location.

5 Future Responses

Since fiscal 2002, all of the survey sites in Aoba Ward have met the environmental standards of dioxins in the atmosphere and have maintained a favorable atmosphere. In addition, dioxin concentration measurement in the atmosphere in the city is being carried out continuously in all 18 wards.

pg :Picogram. One picogram is a trillionth of a trillion-g.

TEQ: "Toxic equivalent". A sign indicating that the amount of dioxins is expressed as the amount converted to the amount of 2,3,7,8-dibenzo-para-dioxin, which is the most toxic among dioxins.
