Chemical fire trucks
Last Updated August 7, 2023
A chemical fire engine is a vehicle that responds to fires caused by dangerous substances such as gasoline.
Dangerous goods fires are extinguished by discharging foam-shaped fire extinguishing agent instead of normal water discharge by water. The chemical fire truck is loaded with water, foam fire extinguishing agent and equipment required for this fire extinguishing method.
Authorities have large, type I, type II, and special type III chemical fire engines.
Large chemical fire trucks
Large chemical fire trucks are larger than other chemical fire trucks and are equipped with A-1 class pump equipment and 2,000 liters of foam concentrate tank in order to respond to large-scale hazardous material fires such as petroleum complexes.
The authorities have deployed large chemical fire trucks, large high-altitude water discharge vehicles (large chemical high-altitude water discharge vehicles), and foam liquid transport vehicles at two locations in the city as a "three-piece set" to respond to oil complex fires.

Chemical fire engine (Type I)
The chemical fire engine (Type I) is equipped with an A-2-class pump device, a water tank with a capacity of 1,000 liters, and a foam concentrate tank with a capacity of 300 liters, and is mainly used to respond to vehicle fires and small chemical fires in inland areas. . Normally, it is placed in ordinary fire brigades and is compatible with general fires.

Chemical fire engine (Type II)
A chemical fire engine (Type II) is a vehicle used to deal with aircraft fires and other accidents in the heliport. A-2 A pump device, a water tank with a capacity of 1300 liters, a foam concentrate tank with a capacity of 500 liters, and a vehicle equipped with a carbon dioxide fire extinguishing system, and is deployed at the Yokohama Heliport.

Chemical fire trucks (Special Type III)
A chemical fire engine (special type III) is a vehicle to deal with fires in large quantities of petroleum such as oil complexes. Equipped with A-1 class pump equipment, a water tank with a capacity of 1,500 liters, and a foam concentrate tank with a capacity of 1,200 liters.
In addition, this chemical fire engine (special type III) is a unique vehicle in Yokohama City that improves the pump performance and foam emission performance of type III chemical vehicles. It is equipped with a hose layer, a hose layer automatic lifting device, and a ladder lifting device.
