A beautiful town with no graffiti

"The regulations about prevention of Yokohama-shi graffiti act" was enforced on April 1, 2015. Responsibilities of the City (Article 4)

  1. In order to achieve the purpose of the ordinance, take measures to prevent graffiti
  2. We try to deepen understanding, interest about prevention of graffiti act of citizens and company.
  3. We try to support activity that citizen, company, volunteer group performs independently.
  4. In public facilities which city sets up or manages, we take necessary measures about prevention of graffiti act.

Responsibilities of Citizens, etc. (Article 5)

We shall endeavor to cooperate with measure about prevention of graffiti act that city carries out.

Responsibilities of Business Operators (Article 6)

We try to cooperate with measure that city carries out and shall try to take necessary measure in facilities which oneself manages.

Recommendations and Orders (Article 7)

  1. The mayor can recommend that those who have performed graffiti should take necessary measures, such as graffiti erasure.
  2. The mayor can order that the person who received the recommendation does not take measures pertaining to the recommendation, the mayor can order that necessary measures such as erasing graffiti.
  3. If a person who received the order set forth in the preceding paragraph does not take necessary measures due to performing graffiti at a public facility established or managed by the city, the mayor will take the necessary measures by himself and pay the cost required for the measures.   4. The mayor cannot identify the person who performed graffiti in a public facility set up or managed by the city, and if he took necessary measures by himself, and when the person who performed the graffiti was later identified, the measures Collected the expenses required from that person.

Fines (Article 9)

Anyone who violates the order set forth in Article 7, Paragraph 2 will be liable to a fine of 50,000 yen or less.
