Last Updated March 11, 2022
In the past, Mt. Kamon was called a railway mountain because the government building of a railway engineer who was involved in the construction of railways in the early Meiji era was built, and water that springs from underground was used to supply steam locomotives. Was. Later, when building a monument to Naosuke Ii, who contributed to the opening of Yokohama Port, it was owned by the Ii family, but was donated to the city in 1914 to become Kamonyama Park. In the back of the plaza surrounded by cherry blossoms, a bronze statue of Naosuke Ii still stands toward the port of Yokohama. The park also has a plaza with playground equipment and a Japanese-style garden with ponds, and a Yokohama Noh-theater is built in one corner of the park. Kamonyama Park is also known as a famous cherry blossom spot, so be sure to stop by during the cherry blossom season.
