Kamonyama Park
Last Updated March 11, 2022
Mt. Kamon was called a railway mountain because it used to supply steam locomotives in the past, in addition to the government building of railway engineers involved in railway laying in the early Meiji era. . Later, when he built a monument to Naosuke Ii, who contributed to the opening of Yokohama, it was owned by the Ii family, but it was donated to the city in 1914 and became Kamonyama Park. In the back of the square surrounded by cherry blossoms, a statue of Naosuke Ii still stands facing the port of Yokohama. The park also has a plaza with playground equipment and a Japanese-style garden with a pond, and a Yokohama Noh-theater is built in one corner of the park. Kamonyama Park is also known as a famous cherry blossom spot, so be sure to visit the cherry blossom season.
