What is the Yamashita Gakusha Cultural Festival?

As the name implies, Midori Ward, which has a desire to preserve greenery beautifully, has a lot of greenery and is an area where agriculture is thriving in the city. We held an event to communicate the appeal of Midori Ward in a fun and easy-to-understand manner with the power of art.
The venue, Yamashita Regional Exchange Center, was opened in April 1989, utilizing the wooden school building of Yamashita National School (now Yamashita Elementary School), which was built in 1942 (Showa 17). . It is the only historical building that exists as a wooden school building of Yokohama City School. Yamashita Elementary School is a historic school that celebrated its 150th anniversary this year, founded in July 1872 as "Nakamura Gakusha". (Source: Yokohama City School History Magazine)
Taking advantage of these roots, it is revived as a fictional school called "Yamashita Gakusha" and an art event that transmits local attractions (nature, agriculture, history, cityscape, etc.) to the "next generation" including children The Yamashita Gakusha Cultural Festival has been held since 2020.
