The sewer in Midori Ward is a diverted system that separates "sewage" and "rainwater" separately.
There are two types of sewage systems: a sewage system that drains sewage and rainwater through separate sewers, and a combined type that flows through one sewer pipe. Everything in Midori Ward is a separate type.
In the diversion system, sewage is treated at a water reclamation center before flowing into the river, and rainwater is drained directly into the river.
Do not drain oil or kitchen garbage into the sewage
70% of the dirt that flows into Tokyo Bay is from household wastewater.
In the case of Yokohama City, household wastewater is cleaned at the water reclamation center and then returned to the sea or river. Therefore, if we can reduce household wastewater with our little care, we will protect the natural environment, reduce the burden on the water reclamation center, and save energy and expense.
- Draining oil can cause clogging of household drainage pipes and sewer pipes.
When discarding oil, use a commercially available coagulant, put it in a container containing old newspapers or used cloth, stop your mouth and throw it away. - Attach a drain bag or old stockings to the garbage receiving so that fine garbage does not flow into the drain pipe.
- Use kitchen detergent in accordance with the indicated standard usage.
Don't throw away trash in the road gutter
There are two types of sewage systems: a sewage system that drains sewage and rainwater through separate sewers, and a combined type that flows through one sewer pipe. Everything in Midori Ward is divided.
Since the water in the rainwater pipe flows directly into the river, do not throw away garbage in the rainwater basin or gutters on the side of the road. Dirty water and garbage that has flowed into the rainwater masu also flows out into rivers and seas as they are.
In addition, if the rainwater masu is clogged, it can cause water to overflow on the road during heavy rain.
Maintenance of sewers and operation and management of sewerage facilities require a lot of money.
The sewerage usage fee paid by you are used to operate and manage sewerage facilities.
However, the sewerage fee is allocated to the expenses for treating sewage such as domestic wastewater. The cost of treating rainwater is covered by general taxes.
