On May 25, the 53rd Designated City Mayors' Meeting was held in Tokyo, and five requests, proposals, and resolutions were adopted, including "Request for Designated City Mayors' Association on Countermeasures against Covid-19 Infectious Diseases."
In addition, on the same day, the first project of the "Diverse Metropolis Realization Project" was held in which I am serving as a subleader. Based on the final report of the Designated City Mayors' Association "Projects for Realizing Diverse Metropolis" held in November last year, new discussions were started by the mayors of 12 designated cities. In the future, this project will accelerate discussions on the direction of specific initiatives for realizing a variety of metropolitan systems, such as the legislation of a special autonomous city system, and will lead to the cultivation of momentum as a whole country.
