Extermination of beehives

We don't get rid of it in Health and Welfare Center.
In addition, since hornets are highly aggressive, we recommend that you ask a specialist to get rid of nests.
Please check the extermination company by yourself on the Internet. However, if you do not know the extermination company yourself and would like guidance, we will guide the following association as an example.
The extermination fee will be borne by you, so please make an estimate in advance and make sure to check carefully before requesting.

What is a bee that sticks a person?

Only a few types of bees, such as hornets and paper wasps, must be careful.
These bee society consists of queen bees, male bees, and working bees, attack foreign enemies to protect their nests.
Other bees, even if they have a needle, they will not pierce unless they are grasped with bare hands.
With the development of residential land in forests, bees often nesting in familiar places.
It is important to know the bee habit of bees to avoid damage.

About beehive

Nests are built in various places, such as under eaves, tree branches, attics, door bags, and soil.
Bees will attack if they approach the nest inadvertently, touch the nest, or oscillate.
When pruning trees, make sure that there are no beehives.
If you are attacked, lower your posture and get away from the spot as soon as possible.
When hiking, don't step outside the mountain trail.
Also, wear dark clothing with salmon hats, as black objects are more likely to be attacked.
Bees stop active when it gets colder and disappear in winter.
Beehives are limited to one year and will not use the same nest the next year.

About hornet

Nest shape from April to July

The hornet's nest from April to July has a diameter of about 7 cm in diameter, and looks like a tokkuri or a single vase.
The queen bee builds a nest with one animal and lay eggs.
When the nest size is about 10 cm in diameter, the first working bee begins to emerge. By that time, the shape of the nest is round like a baseball ball.

Nest shape from August to November

It is a circular, marbled bee nest with a diameter of 20 to 30 cm.
Hornet's nest

From August to November, the hornet's nest is about 20 to 30 cm in diameter (may be larger) and round spherical like a ball. The surface has a pattern like a marble pattern.
There is only one entrance to the bee.

About paper wasp

1.When extermination is done by yourself

There are many bees on the surface of the nest, and the shape is like a bowl turned upside down. When viewed from below, there is a burrow.
Paper wasp nest

There is no outer cover, and when viewed from below, you can see many hexagonal holes.
It is less aggressive than hornets, and there is no danger unless it stimulates the nest.
Like hornets, nests are thrown away for one year only.

1.Preparation

Check the position of the nest.
I'll clean up things that would interfere with the work.

2.Preparation of insecticide

Prepare a spray-type insecticide for bees or for flies and mosquitoes.

3.Checking clothes during work

Let's wear a hat with long sleeves and long pants.
Prepare gloves and boots, and wrap a towel around your neck.
Avoid black clothes and hats.

4.Extermination work

It takes place from evening to night.
Make sure that there is no traffic.
Check the wind direction, approach the nest from the wind, and spray insecticide for a few seconds.
If sprayed from directly below the nest, bees will fall, so do not enter directly below.
When using a flashlight, do not illuminate the nest.

5.Cleanup

Make sure that there are no bees in the nest.
Do not touch the fallen bees with bare hands.

Please note that it may not be possible to judge depending on the image condition. If you cannot judge, we will ask you to take a picture again or call directly.

  • Consultation is limited to beehive in Kohoku Ward. Otherwise, we will not reply to you.
  • Take a picture of the nest as clear as possible from a distance that does not irritate bees. However, if you feel uneasy about shooting, please do not overdo it and consult us by phone.
  • Please note that it may be difficult to answer on the day after consultation. In particular, it will take a few days to respond to your request.
  • We do not extermination directly in Health and Welfare Center.

About bees

Most of them don't settle down, so let's take a look for a while.
Bee separating

The nest is divided in the spring and gathers on tree branches at this time, but they do not build nests.
This is called bunpools.
Separation is not a honeybee nest, but a lump of bees.
Honeybees are looking for a place to become a new nest.
Usually, bee nests are built in closed spaces such as wooden cavities and between walls.
The bees in the seal are unlikely to attack humans and move in a few hours or days, so watch for a while.

If stabbed

If you get stuck by a bee, suck the poison quickly and cool it.

  • I have been stabbed by a bee before.
  • I have palpitations.
  • I feel sick.
  • Somewhere was stabbed.

In such a case, please go to the hospital immediately.
Ammonia doesn't work.
