Promotion of data utilization through sports

On June 1, 2017, Keio University Graduate School of System Design and Management and Kohoku Ward signed a partnership agreement with the aim of contributing to the further development of each other through research and conducting projects on local issues utilizing the results of education and research related to system thinking, design thinking, and management, and studying the use of data. As part of the cooperation agreement, Kohoku residents will work to develop the ability to collect, analyze, and consider sports data (sports data) that they have conducted, and will work to promote open data on sports data. going. In addition, this initiative is being implemented in cooperation with the Keio University Athletic Association.

On summer vacation morning, people and towns are fine! “Online Radio Exercise” (August 2020)

While conducting radio exercises in the community has become difficult due to the COVID-19 infection, we will provide exercise opportunities for children and other residents of the city through online radio exercises, etc., and the possibility of such efforts. Was verified.

“Online Exercise Program” for top athletes (June 2020)

The online exercise program was held for elementary school student at Hiyoshidai Elementary School in Yokohama.
In the online instruction, we aimed to not only eliminate lack of exercise but also to acquire and improve athletic ability by conducting questionnaires and video verifications. In addition, using web applications, we worked to improve the disturbances in daily rhythm by entering and looking back on daily sleep time and physical condition.

Elementary school students experience Top Athlete Level “Data x Tag Rugby Class” (September 2019)

In a physical education class at Hiyoshidai Elementary School in Yokohama City, we worked to improve interest in sports and athletic ability through video and data using GNSS receivers and drones that support the GPS and quasi-zenith satellite "Michibiki". While incorporating training methods for top athletes, we verified the effects based on sports data. Through tag rugby efforts, the Rugby World Cup 2019 TM, which started on September 20, 2019, has been enlivened from the region.

Yokohama Kohoku Sports Mirai Summit 2019-Energize the City with Sports ~ (February 2019)

We held a symposium on topics such as sports data between Keio University and Kohoku Ward. Together with Keio University professors and sports team officials, all participants drew a future in which the city will be fine with sports, making use of technology and collaboration.

Sports Data Science Experience Class (September to December 30, 2018)

In a physical education class at Hiyoshidai Elementary School in Yokohama City, sports data was collected using drones and GPS receivers, and a class was held to improve sports performance.
This year, we worked together for tag rugby classes for physical education for about three months to improve performance and behavioral change. With the cooperation of Keio University kickball (rugby) club and race club, we had elementary school students in the city experience the latest sports data utilization adopted by top athletes.

Wheelchair tennis experience x data utilization (March 2018)

At the international tennis tournament "KeioChallenger International TennisTournament2018" hosted by Keio University, we held a "Smart Tennis Demonstration Event" for future tennis.
With the cooperation of Keio University faculty members and the garden ball (tennis) club, they experienced wheelchair tennis and touched on the joy of parasports, and learned parasports through sports data using innovative technologies such as GPS receivers and speed guns.

Sports Data Utilization Seminar (November 2017)

Seminars were held on the use of sports data collected by using GPS and drones. For those who wish, with the support of the Keio University kickball (Rugby) club, we held a hands-on event to actually acquire sports data.

Sports Data Science Experience Class (October 2017)

We held the second sports data science class held in June and July 29, 2017 for fifth-year students at Hiyoshidai Elementary School in Yokohama.
We held a classroom where students can learn about state-of-the-art sports data science from Keio SDM faculty members and kickball clubs, such as sports data collection experiences using drones and GPS receivers.
We also watched the game of Keio University Kickball Club, a prestigious rugby player.
