What is a licensed nursery school?
It is a child welfare facility based on the Child Welfare Law that meets the installation standards set by the government and approved by the prefectural governor (mayor).
This facility provides childcare for preschool children who cannot be nursed at home during the day due to employment or illness on behalf of their parents.
There are two types of licensed nursery schools: public (municipal) nursery schools and private daycare centers (private) operated by social welfare corporations, but all are operated at public expense and childcare fees are the same.

About application for use to authorized nursery school
We accept applications from time to time at Health and Welfare Center Children and Families Support Division in your ward.
Even if you have a desired nursery school in a neighboring ward, please apply to your ward.
Usage guidance and application forms are distributed at Health and Welfare Center Children and Families Support Division and can be downloaded from the website.

※Applications will be accepted at the same time only for admission from April. For details on admission in April of the next fiscal year, we will tell in public information Yokohama (Kohoku Ward version).

About the entrance application deadline
In the middle of the year (from May admission to the next March) is, in principle, the deadline is 10th of the previous month of the desired entrance month.
(If the 10th is a weekend or a holiday, it will be the immediately preceding business day.)
