Eight Views of Kanazawa drawn by Hiroshige Utagawa

Last Updated June 14, 2022

Shinetsu Zenshi, a Chinese monk who stopped by Kanazawa in 1694, praised the scenery from Nomi-do (now Nokendai) exactly like his homeland China's Shosho. For this reason, it was named Kanazawa Hakkei, and it became the station name. This is a superb view depicted by Hiroshige Utagawa, a Ukiyo-e artist at the end of the Tokugawa period.
