To prevent mosquito damage

Last Updated January 29, 2019

Damage to mosquitoes

It may suck blood and transmit Japanese Encephalitis and West Nile fever and encephalitis.
※In Japan, West Nile virus has not been found yet.

Mosquito control

The first step is to improve the environment. Are there any puddles around your house?
Mosquitoes come from where water has accumulated for more than a week. Inspect the area around the house frequently and eliminate the source.

[Example of places where water tends to accumulate]

  • Saucer tray
  • Pumping water for planting plants, left untouched juro
  • Buckets and old tires left outside
  • Empty cans and containers
  • Slack of rain-proof sheets for bicycles and motorcycles
  • Bamboo stumps, etc.

Rainwater trout is a place where water tends to accumulate with fallen leaves and mud, and mosquitoes are likely to occur. Cleans it regularly to improve the flow of water. Also, cover the lid with a net so that mosquitoes do not enter.

Adult mosquitoes hide in the dark grass yabs. Let's cut the grass on a regular basis.

If you have to use a drug, such as when the bow hula has already springed up but the source cannot be removed, follow the dosage and spray. The effect does not change even if it is sprayed in large quantities or spraying chemicals with high concentrations. Also, spraying medicine where no bow hula does not occur in advance is not a proper use.
Adult mosquitoes that have occurred are exterminated using smoke agents, pyrethroid sprays, mosquito coils, etc.

To prevent mosquito bites

When caring for the garden, wear long sleeves and long pants as possible. Apply insect repellent spray to the exposed skin, or use a portable insect repellent device to prevent it.
Prevent intrusion from the outdoors using screen doors and insect repellents.

The impact of chemical substances on human health and the environment are becoming a problem. There is also concern about the effects of phytoximatosis with drugs.
Yokohama City is promoting control that focuses on eliminating sources, instead of conventional pest control centered on insecticide.
