About opening of evacuation sites when typhoon approaches
Based on the Boso Peninsula Typhoon (Typhoon No. 15) and the East Japan Typhoon (Typhoon No. 19) in fiscal 2019, we have established a basic policy for opening the evacuation sites when a typhoon approaches in Kanagawa Ward.

Basic Policy on the Establishment of evacuation sites
To prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, residents living in inundation areas should consider evacuation outside of evacuation sites, such as evacuating to relatives' homes before the typhoon approaches. In addition, when evacuating to evacuation sites, which is established by the ward office, please take necessary measures against infectious diseases such as bringing a mask.
If you are not living in the inundation area, please evacuate indoors or evacuate vertically at home.
As for the evacuation sites, which is established by the ward office, the evacuation sites will be divided into three patterns and operated by ward staff.

Pattern 1: When a typhoon with special warning level lands and approaches Yokohama City

Pattern 3: When a typhoon is expected to approach, but does not land in Yokohama or has little impact.
We will not open evacuation sites in advance. However, we will open the evacuation sites according to circumstances such as rising water levels in rivers.
Opening hours of evacuation sites
evacuation sites is scheduled to be opened 12 hours before the typhoon is expected to land in Yokohama. However, if 12 hours before the night or early morning, we will open evacuation sites from 17:00 the day before.

Supplies and food in evacuation sites
In principle, supplies and food in evacuation sites must be brought by evacuees.
Choose what you need based on your family structure.
In addition, masks, thermometers, slippers, etc. are important for preventing COVID-19 infection.
Evacuation by car
When evacuating from your home to evacuation sites, evacuate on foot while considering safety.
It is possible to pick up and drop off people who have difficulty evacuating on their own by car. (However, parking is prohibited in principle, so please use a nearby coin parking etc.)
Evacuation of pets
If you wish to evacuate your pet, please contact the person in charge below before approaching the typhoon.
