Respect for Human Rights

Aiming to realize a society in which each and every citizen respects human rights and live together.

Yokohama City Human Rights Policy Basic Guidelines

Yokohama City has formulated the "Yokohama City Human Rights Policy Basic Guidelines" (hereinafter referred to as the "Guidelines") with the aim of realizing a society in which each and every citizen respects human rights and live together."
In guideline, Motoichi staff assumes that we perform approach based on recognition about human rights including the next basic attitude for realization of society where dignity of each citizen is protected.

Municipal administration based on respect for human rights

Yokohama City places respect for human rights as the basis of municipal administration.

In the position of discriminating people

Yokohama City takes the position of the parties who are discriminated against and operates municipal administration with an attitude of eliminating discrimination.

Improvement of human rights awareness among staff responsible for municipal administration

In order to operate municipal administration based on respect for human rights, staff members are required to have a rich and sharp sense of human rights.
All staff members will not only be proficient in their duties, but also constantly strive for self-development, improve their sense of human rights, and carry out their duties with an understanding of a wide range of human rights and awareness of issues.

Support for community-wide efforts

Human rights issues cannot be resolved unless they are recognized as social issues. In order to solve various human rights-related issues in each field, independent efforts by each citizen, business, organization, etc. is required. Yokohama City will continue to actively support such efforts.

Human Rights Awareness Project

We work on human rights enlightenment business including holding of lecture so that inhabitants of a ward can be interested in human rights problem and can be regarded as familiar problem.

Training for staff

We conduct training to improve the sense of human rights among staff members who are required to carry out their duties with a wide range of human rights knowledge and awareness of issues.
