incurable disease Patient Support

We provide the following services to patients and their families with so-called “designated incurable disease” whose cause is unknown and no treatment method has been established.

In Yokohama, we provide various services to support those who are recuperating in incurable disease.

Among the so-called incurable disease where the cause is unknown and no treatment method has been established, the diseases specified by the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare are called "designated incurable disease" and currently 338 diseases (as of November 1, 2021) are designated.
In order to reduce the burden on medical expenses on patients with the disease, we will support a portion of medical expenses for those who meet the certification criteria.
In order to receive medical expenses's payment, you must apply and be certified.

The Kanagawa Prefecture Specific Disease medical care benefits System is a system for those who suffer from three diseases specified by the government (smon, intractable hepatitis, fulminant hepatitis, severe acute pancreatitis). For those who meet certain criteria, we pay a portion of the medical expenses for treatment at public expense on the assumption that data on the disease will be provided to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
※Currently, only smons are accepted for new applications.
