Approximately 9,000 "security lights" are installed in the ward to prevent crime at night.
Usually, fluorescent lamp is attached to telephone poles and steel pipe poles, and are managed separately from mercury lamps installed on wide roads and other street lights.
Since 2009, Yokohama City has installed LED security lights with superior energy efficiency and durability compared to the current fluorescent lamp, and is effective in the same brightness, energy saving and maintenance costs. Based on the Global Warming Countermeasures Action Plan, we are promoting the use of LED security lights.
