Ayumi of Aoba Ward

Last update date September 15, 2020

The current Aoba Ward area is dotted with a variety of archeological sites, including the Asahi-Terahara archeological site in the Yayoi period, the Inari-mae Tumulus in the Kofun period, and the Ichigao Yokoana Burial Mounds.

In the Edo era, the area around Eda, where the Oyama Kaido passed, was bustling as a sideways of the Tokaido, was busy, but until the high growth period in the late 30s, the area was quiet rural areas.

With the opening of the Denentoshi Line in 1966, rapid population growth began, and Midori Ward was born in 1969. In 1969, the population of the Aoba area was about 50,000.

Midori Ward Office was opened in 1986, and Aoba Ward was established on November 6, 1994.
