Outline

It is the main god of Shinfukuji Temple. The head is carved from Hino Ichiki, and the inner hollow is greatly hollowed out from the back of the head and back. Usually, Senju Kannon is made forty or forty-two arms, but this statue is eight-sided. It is thought that there was an armpit at first, but there are quite a few repairs. However, it shows the style of the Fujiwara era well, and is considered to be one of the ancient examples of the Senju Kannon statue in Kanto.
