Traditional Performing Arts and Life of the People
It is said that various events and songs that were born from the lives of the common people, nurtured over a long period of time, rooted in the lives of local communities, and have been handed down are traditional performing arts.
In our town, Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama City, the Snakes and Mosquito Festival (Yokohama City Intangible Folk Cultural Property, Designated) and the Namamugi Hayashi (Yokohama City Intangible Folk Cultural Property, Certification), which originated in the Kamakura period, which was revived for the first time in 100 years in 1987, have been living in this area. Some have already been cut off, but many of them are related to folk religion. In addition, there were work songs sung to carry the work smoothly, such as "Kiri Uta" and "Nagamochi Uta".
