Last update date November 27, 2023
In Japan, about 5.23 million tons of food that can still be eaten but discarded, so-called "food loss," is estimated in Japan (estimated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in FY2021). When converted to per capita, "one cup of food" is thrown away every day.
In order to reduce food loss as much as possible, the members of the Totsuka Ward Environmental Business Promotion Committee and Totsuka Ward Consumer Life Promotion Committee have devised a recipe for reducing food loss in Totsuka Ward.
It is necessary to reduce food loss from effective use of important resources and consideration for environmental impact.
