Greening of lawns, flower seedlings, etc.

Last update date November 14, 2022

Since 2010, Minami Ward has been greening schoolyards, gardens, and some of the parks in the city with lawns and flower seedlings.
In addition to improving the greening environment, we contribute to raising awareness of heat island measures and decarbonization.
This project is implemented based on the "Yokohama Green Up Plan".

Greening of lawns, etc.

Greening by lawn

From FY2011 to FY2015, we implemented lawn greening of elementary school yards in Minami Ward with the aim of suppressing the heat island phenomenon and creating a green environment where children can play.
In addition, we conduct training surveys for elementary schools that have planted schoolyards in order to maintain the lawn in the school yard good, and provide management guidance and advice according to the condition.

Greening of flower seedlings, etc.

Greening with flower seedlings

Minami Ward has a low green coverage rate (*) and a small park area per person.
For this reason, we are creating and managing familiar greenery, which is also positioned as a measure against global warming. From 2013, we distribute managed items such as flower seeds, seedlings, fertilizers, etc. to elementary, junior high schools, nursery schools, etc. doing.

※What is the Green Coverage?
This refers to the ratio of greenery such as vegetation covering the site of the building.
