Greening grass, flower seedlings, etc.

Last update date November 14, 2022

Since fiscal 2010, Minami Ward has been planting some of its schoolyards, gardens and parks in the city with grass and flower seedlings.
In addition to improving the greening environment, we also contribute to the spread of heat island measures and dewarming behavior.
This project is implemented based on the "Yokohama Green Up Plan".

Greening of lawns, etc.

Greening with grass

From fiscal 2011 to fiscal 2015, we implemented lawn greening of elementary school grounds in Minami Ward with the aim of suppressing the heat island phenomenon and creating a green environment where children can play.
In addition, for elementary schools that have greened the schoolyard, we conduct training surveys to maintain the lawn of the schoolyard in good condition, and provide management guidance and advice according to the condition.

Greening with flower seedlings

In Minami Ward, there are few opportunities for residents to come into contact with greenery, such as low green coverage (*) and small park area per person.
For this reason, we are creating and managing familiar greenery, which is also positioned as a measure against global warming, and from 2013, distribute management items such as flower seeds, seedlings and fertilizers to elementary, junior high schools, nursery schools, etc. who wish. doing.

※What is green coverage?
The ratio of greenery such as vegetation covers the site of the building on a plane basis.
