Minami Ward Reading Activity Promotion Goals

The Second Minami Ward Reading Activity Promotion Goal has been revised!

  In response to the new "Second Yokohama Citizen Reading Activity Promotion Goals" newly formulated in 2019, Minami Ward reviewed the "First Minami Ward Reading Activity Promotion Goal".
  We made leaflet which combined contents of the second goal and map which listed introduction, places such as book corners in ward.
  We distribute Minami Ward citizen reading activity promotion target leaflet in ward office, library, and other inhabitants of a ward use facility (district center, community house) in ward.

Second Minami Ward Reading Activity Promotion Goals

Books give people the vitality to live and enrich people's hearts.
It enhances the culture and expressiveness that we need to live, and expands the wings of imagination.
Reading activities are very valuable in which everyone, from children to adults, can get acquainted and interact with each other.
We will promote reading activities in cooperation with local people and various facilities in order to further deepen the exchange of inhabitants of the ward and blow a "warm wind" in Minami Ward.

We deepen connection of inhabitant of a ward and facility so that one goal can be felt more familiar.

There are many reading-related facilities such as Minami Library.
Inhabitants of a ward come into contact with book close, and each facility works on environmental maintenance so that they can get close to reading.

Main Initiatives

1 Environmental Improvement in Minami Library
 Minami Library, which plays a central role in reading activities, aims to create a library that makes it easier to use as an information base in Minami Ward.
2 Public relations activities in which each facility cooperates
 We make reading map which is easy to use and work on public information activity that you can use each reading-related facility in ward more closely.
3. Establishment of a Reading Activity Promotion Liaison Committee
 We make reading activity promotion liaison meeting with person in charge of ward office, library, school, inhabitant of a ward use facility and hold liaison meeting regularly for information sharing and perform cooperation approach.
4 Support for volunteers who are responsible for reading activities
 Ward offices and libraries support the activities and learning of reading activities volunteers in the city, such as reading stories and book repair.

Goal 2 We provide opportunities for inhabitants of all generations, from infants to the elderly, to come into contact with books.

In order for adults to get acquainted with books, it is important to meet childhood books.
And in order for children to get acquainted with books, it is important that the adults around them to get acquainted with books.
Minami Ward provides opportunities for all generations and people of different cultural backgrounds to enjoy reading.

Main Initiatives

1 Infants
  Initiatives that utilize infant health checkups
 We convey the importance of children's songs and story-telling through opportunities such as infant health checkups and story-telling parties so that reading to children at home becomes more familiar.
 2 Schools
  Enhancement of school libraries in cooperation with City Library
 School librarians, teachers, volunteers, and City Library will work together to enhance the school library, so that reading will become established in the daily life of elementary school student students.
 3 Adults
  Efforts to raise interest in reading activities
 Focusing on reading days (23rd of every month) and reading activity month (November), we will conduct exhibitions and planning projects to increase opportunities for encounters with books.
4 Elderly people
  Efforts to create an environment where the elderly can enjoy reading
 We work on environment, opportunity making for elderly person to perform reading activity happily.
5 Persons with disabilities
  Efforts to create an environment where anyone can enjoy reading.
 We will work to create an environment where anyone can enjoy reading so that the opportunity of reading is not hindered by the presence or absence of disabilities.
6 Multicultural
  Reading initiatives for inhabitants of the ward whose native language is foreign language
 In cooperation with multicultural lounges, etc., we will enhance multilingual materials and support reading activities in various languages and various cultural environments.

In Yokohama-shi, "the regulations about promotion of reading activity of Yokohama citizen" came into effect on April 1, 2014. Based on these ordinances, Minami Ward formulated the "Minami Ward People's Reading Activity Promotion Goals" in fiscal 2014.
Five years have passed since the formulation, and based on the fact that the "Second Yokohama Citizen Reading Activity Promotion Plan" was newly formulated in FY2019, the goal was reviewed in Minami Ward, and the "Second Minami Ward People's Reading Activity Promotion Goal ".
We promote aim so that all inhabitants of a ward can perform substantial reading activity.

About Minami Ward citizen reading activity promotion target (draft), we carried out opinion offer from September 22, 2014 to October 17, 2014.
