Lectures and exhibitions for elementary schools
Implementation of courses
In elementary school classes targeting Municipal Elementary Schools in Kohoku Ward, we offer hands-on environmental disaster prevention learning courses to learn about the natural environment and disaster prevention in the Tsurumi River basin (generally from May to October).
In the course, we will nurture the spirit of valuing the natural environment by observing fish birds and creatures on the Tsurumi River. We also learned flood control measures in the Tsurumi River basin, which was once called the rampage river, providing an opportunity for elementary school student to think about global warming countermeasures.
In carrying out the program, we give due consideration to the safety and security of children, such as wearing life jackets.
Exhibitions
An exhibition is being held at the Tsurumi River Basin Center, etc., so that the inhabitants of the ward can see the results of the activities, such as exhibits produced based on what elementary school students learned in the course and the state of the course. (From February to March).

[Report] Lecture for the general public in 2023 "Keio Forest Creature Expedition"
On Sunday, November 19, 2023, an environmental disaster prevention learning course was held in the forest of Keio University Hiyoshi Campus.
With the cooperation of Keio University Hiyoshi Maru-no-kai, we toured the campus forests and disaster prevention regulating ponds (Hiyoike), and learned about forest disaster prevention measures. In addition, we observed waterside creatures and experienced planting wild elephants in Ichino Valley. In the pond made of spring water in Ichino Valley, endangered species of loach, medaka, Kawanina (slender snail), and goats were removed (after observation, released). In the planting experience, the children of the participants played a central role in digging a hole with a scoop and planting seedlings of Nokanzo. Flowers are scheduled to bloom around July next year.
Participants commented, "I became more aware of the natural environment through my experience," and "I understood the state of the forest and the relationship with disaster prevention." . Through this experience-based activity, I was able to raise awareness of the natural environment and disaster prevention.
