Conducting courses

For Municipal Elementary Schools in Kohoku Ward, we offer hands-on environmental disaster prevention learning courses in elementary school classes to learn about the natural environment and disaster prevention in the Tsurumi River basin.
In the course, we will cultivate a mind that values the natural environment by catching fish and observing creatures on the Tsurumi River. It is also an opportunity for elementary school student to learn about flood control measures in the basin of the Tsurumi River, which was once called a rampage river, and to think about global warming countermeasures.
In carrying out the program, we give due consideration to the safety and security of children, such as wearing life jackets.

On Sunday, November 19, 2023, an environmental disaster prevention learning course was held in the forest of Keio University Hiyoshi Campus.
With the cooperation of Keio University Hiyoshi Maru-no-kai, we toured forests and disaster prevention ponds (Hiyo Pond) on campus, and learned about disaster prevention measures in the forest. In addition, in Ichino Valley, we observed waterside creatures and planted nokan elephants. In the pond made of spring water in Ichino Valley, endangered species of Hotokedo, medaka, Kawana (slender snails), and goago were caught (after observation and released).
