About car temporary operation permit (temporary number)

What is the Temporary Operation Permit System?

Temporary car operation permission is a specific purpose (Note 2) specified on a road transport vehicle when there is an application to operate a car (Note 1) that must not be used for operation on the road. Only for a certain period of time, the minimum permission is given.

Note 1 Vehicles that must not be used for operation  
Unregistered vehicles and vehicles whose validity period of inspection certificate
Note 2 Specific purposes
This is when forwarding to applying for new registration, new inspection, and continuous inspection of vehicles where the inspection certificate is not valid.

What should you prepare for the application?

  1. Original insurance card
  2. vehicle inspection certificate, etc.
  3. 750 yen ※
  4. Individual driver's license, etc. (a document proving the fact of residence)

 ※Please pay the fee by cash or electronic money at the counter.
  Electronic money can be used by transportation, WAON, nanaco, and Rakuten Edy. In addition, you cannot pay or charge in combination with cash or certificate stamp.
  Yokohama Revenue certificate stamp was abolished on January 29, 2020. For more information, please visit the Office of Accounting page.

What is the service period?

After examining the purpose and route of operation, it will be the minimum number of days required, about 5 days.
Please return the used temporary number and permits immediately.
Failure to return within 5 days after the expiration of the validity period may result in penalties.

※In order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the validity period of the automobile inspection certificate is valid from February 28 to March 31, 2020, the validity period of the automobile inspection certificate has been extended nationwide until April 30, 2020. Please note that you can continue to use the vehicle if you take a continuous inspection by April 30 for the target vehicle.

Of the vehicles that have the headquarters of use in areas where the state of emergency has been declared (Kanagawa Prefecture, etc.), vehicles whose validity period of the automobile inspection certificate is from April 8 to May 31, 2020, The validity period of the automobile inspection certificate has been extended until June 1st. Please note that you can continue to use the car if you take a continuous inspection by June 1 for the target vehicle.
