In Kanazawa in Edo, many ukiyo-e paintings related to Kanazawa's Hakkei were drawn.

F. Beard, an Italian-born British man, has a photo studio in Yokohama, photographed portraits, and photographed all over Japan. "F. Beard Bakumatsu Japan Photo Book" describes how Kanazawa was a favorite not only of Beard but also of many people.

Colored photos are photos taken from landscapes of various parts of Japan and colored, and were preferred by foreigners who visited Japan.
The peak period was the 20s of the Meiji era, and many of the colored photographs photographed Kanazawa and its surroundings.
