Kanazawa's development and Mukagame Nitta 2/3

Nitta refers to opening forests, burying ponds and seas to make new fields and fields.
Mudgame Nitta is a sea that had been intricate from the current Hiragata Bay to a part of the mudgame / Kamariya-cho during the Edo period.

Approximately 350 years ago, Nagashima Mukame (I live in Nagashima) filled the land of Kanazawa and built Nitta and Shiota in hope of improving the lives of the villagers. After that, it was washed away many times due to heavy rain and floods, but the descendants worked on development for about 200 years and completed it.
Himekojima Suimon near the Kanazawa Library was designed to prevent seawater from coming up to Nitta.
