What is "the best thing in my town?"
In order to preserve, protect and convey the charms of Kanagawa Ward and unique to Kanagawa Ward to the next generation, the 150th anniversary of the opening of Yokohama Port is a comprehensive collection of attractive resources from various fields, both tangible and intangible, including nature, culture, history, lifestyle and industry. From 2009 to 2021, it was certified based on the results of examinations by the Kanagawa Ward Asset System Promotion Committee, which consists of residents, businesses and governments, and applications and popular votes by residents. Kame Taro Walking Guide de General Election (implemented in 2017)
As a project commemorating the 90th anniversary of the constituency system, in 2017, we held a popular vote for "My town Kanagawa Special".
- Voting period: From July 24, 2017 to September 18, 2017 (57 days)
- Total number of votes: 4,522 votes (total of 4 divisions)
Nature and Landscape Division
No. 1 Kougaya Park 106 votes
A great night view spot with a famous cherry blossom spot. During the Warring States period, it was the stage of the Battle of Gongenyama.
Since the end of the Tokugawa period, steep mountains have been cut down for landfill of Kanagawa Daiba and railway land.
・Living and Cultural Division
No. 1 Urashima Legend 180 votes
According to a legend handed down to the ward, Taro Urashima learned that his parents had died on his way home from Ryugu Castle.
Later, he arrived at the peak of Shirohata, where his parents' tombs were located, and was said to have become the guardian deity of the people with Otohime while protecting the tombs.

History Division
No. 1 Tokaido Shin Nagawa-juku 133 votes
During the Edo period, the Tokaido was improved, and the Tokaido Shin Nagawa-juku, the third post town from Nihonbashi, was established.
As a result, it has prospered as a key point for land transportation such as the Tokaido and Kanagawa roads.

Kame Taro Town Boasting Newspaper Contest (conducted from FY2018 to FY2014)
Since fiscal 2018, we have held a newspaper contest for elementary school students living and studying in the city to convey the appeal of Kanagawa Ward.
The purpose of this contest is for elementary school students to rediscover the various attractions of the city, both inside and outside the school district, and to raise interest in the community by creating handmade newspapers.
