Let's preserve the Sagami kite culture in Izumi Ward!

Sagami kite

Joined as the Sagami Kite Subcommittee of the Traditional Culture Preservation Society in 1997, reorganized into the Sagami Kite Izumi Preservation Society in 1999, and partially changed its name to the "Sagami Kite Izumi Preservation Society" in 2011. I am.
We recurred by new members and resumed activities in earnest in fiscal 2010.
We are looking for people who like crafts, those who want to go around rice fields, those who like fun, those who are interested in Sagami kites, and those who can work together.

What is Izumi Sagami kite?

The Sagami kite, a traditional culture that remains in Izumi Ward, is a traditional culture that has been held in May to pray for healthy growth of children and good harvest of rice. It is characterized by a square shape.
At present, it has become less common due to a decrease in bamboo used as a material, a shortage of successors to its production technology, and the problem of securing kite flying places.

We are recruiting new members!

The Sagami Kite Izumi Preservation Society is looking for friends who can work together. If you are interested in Sagami kites, why don't you work together?

  • It doesn't matter whether young or old.
  • People outside the city are also welcome!
  • Currently, about 5 members are supported and supported by the community and many people.
  • Activities include kite making workshops, kite flying, bamboo work, etc.
