We renewed hands-on display of transparent solar power panel on the first floor of the ward office.

Since March 2024, new exhibits using four power generation panels have been added.

By having the children who will lead the next generation actually experience the latest solar power generation system, they will be interested in the transition to renewable energy and deoxication lifestyle.

About exhibition

Yokohama City is working toward the realization of Zero Carbon Yokohama, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% in fiscal 2030 and decarbonization by 2050.

ENEOS Corporation's Negishi Refinery is located in Isogo Ward, and the company and Isogo Ward have been working together to implement decarbonization projects, including bus tours for elementary school students and introduction of decarbonization initiatives in the Isogo Ward version of the public relations Yokohama.

In December 2022, Isogo Ward signed a partnership agreement with ENEOS Holding Co., Ltd. and has been exhibiting transparent solar panels (hereinafter referred to as "power generation panels") at the Isogo Ward General Government Building since March 2023.

Exhibits using power panels

Conventional photovoltaic panels mainly generate electricity using light in the visible area, while transparent solar glass generates electricity mainly using ultraviolet (UV) and infrared area (IR) light. Transparency is maintained because it is less absorption of visible light.

Functions and Features	High-efficiency power generation using ultraviolet and infrared rays as energy sources, and while maintaining the same transparency as ordinary windows, it has excellent heat shielding and heat insulation properties, making it possible to achieve high energy efficiency in buildings. In addition, since it can be used for high-rise buildings, there is no need to secure a vast land, and compared to flat solar power generation, it may generate more electricity from a small site area compared to flat solar power generation.
