What is the Election Commission?

≪Establishment of Election Commission≫
The Election Commission shall, in accordance with the Local Autonomy Law, ensure fair and proper execution of elections.
It is an administrative committee established in prefectures and municipalities, and is the governor who is the executive body of general administration.
It has become an executive body independent of the mayors of municipalities.
≪Major duties≫
•Execution of each election of members of the House of Representatives, members of the House of Councilors, prefectural governors, mayors, prefectural council members, and city council members
•Execution of the National Examination of Judges of the Supreme Court
•Preparation and storage of electoral lists
•Office work related to election enlightenment
•Office work related to direct billing
•Office work related to the selection of prospective judge candidates
•Office work related to the selection of prospective prosecutor judge candidates
≪Organization≫
The Election Commission is organized with four members elected in Congress.
My term of office is four years.
Term of office of committee members: From November 10, 2021 to November 9, 2025
