Yokohama City Council Chairman SENOMA Yasuhiro
This is Mr. SENOMA Yasuhiro, Chairman of the Yokohama City Council.
Thank you very much for your visit to our website.
He was elected the 53rd Chairman of Yokohama City Council at the plenary session of City Counsil on June 27, 2023.
At present, citizens' lives are facing difficult situations, such as rising prices due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation in Ukraine. We will fulfill our role as Yokohama City Council so that citizens and businesses in the city can realize safety and security and richness in their lives.
By the way, Yokohama City, which is Japan's largest local government, has entered a period of population decline, and there is an urgent need to respond to various issues associated with the declining birthrate and aging population.
In addition to improving social welfare and strengthening crisis management, revitalizing the local economy in the post-COVID era, it is necessary to promote initiatives that capture the times, such as the formation of a decarbonized society and the promotion of digitalization.
Furthermore, Yokohama City Council, which plays a role in the dual representation system, will focus its efforts on inviting the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development in 2025 and fostering momentum toward the 2027 International Horticultural Exposition.
As Chairman of the Yokohama City Council, which has a long history and tradition, Yokohama City Council will do its utmost to ensure fair and smooth operation of parliament so that it can fully demonstrate its role, including appropriate evaluation of the government and its own policy-making function.
