　Hello. This is Mr. SUZUKI Taro, Chairman of Yokohama City Council. Yokohama City Council was elected as the 54th Chairman of the City Counsil Plenary Session on May 20, 2024.

　More than a year has passed since the COVID-19 pandemic shifted to Class 5 infectious diseases. I think many people have finally come into contact with people and feel that the city is very busy as before.
　On the other hand, in Yokohama City, the basic local government where the largest number of people live in Japan, it is expected that the population will decline in the future, and that the working-age population will decrease and the birthrate and aging population will further progress. Under these circumstances, it is necessary to stop the population decline and create a virtuous cycle of the city and the economy through further accumulation of people and companies, thereby achieving sustainable development of Yokohama. . To this end, we must balance social welfare, child-rearing support, regional economic revitalization, DX acceleration, disaster prevention and reduce disaster damage, and maintain fiscal soundness.
　In addition, as important initiatives for the further development of the city, the 9th African Development Conference (TICAD9) was held in 2025 (Reiwa 7) and GREEN x EXPO 2027 in 2027 (Reiwa 9) Will be held in Yokohama. It is necessary to make further efforts to foster this momentum.

　The local council is in a position to play a part in the dual representation system with the mayor. We would like to discuss with members of the Diet carefully and work on solving various issues.
　In order to conduct high-quality discussions, Yokohama City Council values dialogue more than ever, taking the voices and suggestions of many people related to Yokohama, including citizens, seriously as Yokohama City Council, and as a voting body, we hope to contribute to municipal administration.

　In addition, in order to respond to the voices of citizens, of course, we will fulfill the monitoring and evaluation function for the government, but also fully demonstrate the policy-making function of the council, and together with the government, realize rich civil life and regional revitalization I want to go.
　We will also promote DX in the operation of City Counsil. We, Yokohama City Council's DX initiatives, which are gradually spreading, are slower than social trends, and there is much room for them.
　I would like to show you the attitude of accelerating the efforts of Congress and taking the initiative in promoting DX.
