- Yokohama City has concluded a cooperation agreement with Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd., and in the demonstration test of methanation (*) conducted at Tokyo Gas Yokohama Techno Station in Suehiro-cho, Tsurumi-ku, biomass-derived resources (CO2, etc.) and support technology development that contributes to decarbonization. In concluding the cooperation agreement, we held a meeting with Takashi Uchida, President and Representative Executive Officer of Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd.
The Suehiro Tsurumi Ward is home to a variety of production functions and R&D bases. Going forward, we will continue to work with related companies to make the Suehiro area a model district for decarbonization in the coastal area.
- ※Methanation is a technology that generates methane (CH4), the main component of city gas, through the reaction of carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen (H2). In the future, we aim to prevent new CO2 emissions by recycling CO2 to produce city gas.
