How to get a medical institution

When going to a hospital or clinics

Major medical institutions include hospitals and clinics.
If you have any worrisome symptoms due to illness or injury, first consult your local clinics (family doctor).
clinics will provide you with a diagnosis and, if you need specialized treatment or hospitalization.
(If you do not have a letter of introduction, you may be able to visit a hospital, but the cost of the consultation will be higher.)

Response at reception

At the reception, please show the health insurance card of the person to be examined.
(Even if you do not have a health insurance card, you can get a consultation, but the cost of the consultation will be higher.)
(If you are a traveler and have travel insurance, please let us know at the time of reception.)
If you need to consider cultural or religious differences when you see a doctor, please let us know at the reception.

Accounting

The consultation fee will be paid after the consultation is completed.
The amount will be calculated based on the content of the inspection, etc., so if you want to know the approximate amount, please check in advance at the time of reception.

How to find a hospital that speaks foreign languages

The Japan Tourism Agency publishes information on medical institutions that can accept foreign tourists in English, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Korean, and Japanese.

On the Yokohama City website, we have released a "base medical institution that accepts foreign patients (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare)" in Yokohama City.
