How to ride in a wheelchair
Last Updated April 11, 2023
Municipal buses have introduced bus vehicles equipped with slope boards on the middle door so that wheelchair customers can use them on all buses in the city.
For customers who use municipal buses in wheelchairs
Thank you for always using the Yokohama Municipal Bus.
As a general rule, you can get on and off at any bus stop, but there are some places that cannot be handled depending on physical conditions.
Please refrain from getting on and off in a wheelchair at the following locations.
●If the bus stop is on a steep slope
This is because the vehicle is tilted and the slope board cannot be installed stably, and the slope may cause wheelchair customers to fall and get injured.
●When the width of the road is narrow
This is because it is not possible to install the slope board required for getting on and off.
In some bus terminals, etc., the curve of the platform is tight and it is difficult for the bus vehicle to approach the platform, so you may have to get on at the drop-off location. (Yokodai Station, Konandai Station, etc.)
※If you have any questions, please contact your local sales office.

Please wait near the front door and tell the crew that you will be boarding.
After jumping up the seat and setting the slope board, etc., the crew will speak, so please get on from the middle door.
The crew will fix the wheelchair with a belt. I'd like to lock the tires in the wheelchair.
Please show your ticket etc. to the crew.

Depending on the situation, you may not be able to board.
In the following cases, it cannot be used because safety cannot be ensured. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
- If you already have two wheelchairs or two-seater strollers (it may be up to one depending on the type of vehicle.)
- When the inside of the car is crowded
- In the case of a wheelchair that cannot be fixed
