Outline of Business
The subway plays an important role as the foundation for vibrant urban development, connecting the city center and subcenter, and the city to the city, supporting the activities of approximately 580,000 citizens a day (financial results for fiscal 2022).
The Blue Line (Yokohama City High Speed Rail Routes 1 and 3), which runs in one city area, has steadily expanded its route since its opening in December 1972, and is currently 40.4 km in length between Azamino and Shonandai. While cooperating with buses and neighboring railways, it forms a wide-area transportation network and plays a major role in the development of the area along the railway line as a core transportation in Yokohama.
Also, in March 2008, the Green Line (Yokohama City High Speed Rail Line 4), which runs east and west in northern Yokohama, opened. This line connects Nakayama Station to Blue Line Center Minami Station and Center Kita Station, connecting 13km to Hiyoshi Station, dramatically improving access to central Tokyo and Yokohama.
In addition, the rapid operation started on the Blue Line in July 2015 has shortened the time required between major stations, improving access to suburban areas such as the northern and southwest centering on Kohoku New Town, and the center of Yokohama. And contribute to further integration of the city area and balanced development.
